You cannot even concieve of a single disease or one natural disaster--tornado, fire or hurricane--that hurts even close to the number of people that medication hurts each year and every year. No bondage, slavery, racial or gender inequality ever destroyed the human potential as much as medicine has.

Ephesians 5:20, "Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ."

On the basis of this verse of Scripture, many people allow the devil to hinder them from getting answers to prayers. In fact, on the basis of this Scripture, the devil keeps many people from even praying for God's blessings. They are deceived into believing that God wants bad things in their lives and that they, as submissive children of God, should not resist these things. Rather, they should give thanks for them.

It is very interesting that most of the things that we don't give thanks for many of the things that God actually does. We couldn't even think of them all, much less give actual thanks for them. But, while we are failing to thank Him for many of the things that He does, we are taught to give thanks to Him for things the devil does, all on the basis of this one Scripture.

Many people who know this verse of Scripture don't know very many Scriptrues, but they know this one. They don't know about the covenant of healing, and the many healing scriptures. They can't quote the numerous Scriputres that say that God will answer prayers that are prayed in faith. They have no concept of the fact that God wants to bless them abundantly with good things. There are many scriptures that verify that truth. (See Ephesians 3:20, John 15:7, Mark 11:24, Psalm 37:4, for examples). If they do know that these Scriptures are in the Bible, they don't believe them. They think that it is impossible for them to actually mean what they say. God said it, but He really meant something else. It is a strange thing, indeed, that people don't know for certain what God meant, but they know that He didn't mean what He actually said. Of course, they believe, He meant we should give thanks for bad things, offering no resistance to them. Cna't you see how the devil has kept people of God from being receptive to the blessings of God, while at the same time, being all too ready to accept bad things.

By the way, the Bible says in James 4:7, to resist the devil. How can you do that if you are thanking God for the things the devil is doing? You will never resist what you are thankful for.

A minister got tired of hearing the same old excuses about not going to church. He wrote the following:

The reasons why I don't take a bath.
1. I was made to wash as a child.
2. People who wash are hypocrites. They reckon they are cleaner than other people.
3. There are so many different kinds of soap. I could never decide which one was right.
4. I used to wash, but it got boring, so I stopped.
5. I still wash on special occasions, like Easter and Christmas.
6. None of my friends wash.
7. I'm still young. When I'm older and have gotten a bit dirtier I might start washing.
8. I really don't have time.
9. The bathroom is never warm enough.
10. People who make soap are only after your money.

Sound ridiculous? So do our excuses for not attending church.
Go to church.
